Physician Curriculum: Alcohol, Tobacco, and Other Drug Problem Prevention

This 1-day course provides learning opportunities for physicians to increase their substance abuse prevention activities in clinical settings, health care systems, communities, and the public policy arena.
 

Learning Objectives

  1. increase your understanding of ATOD problem prevention;
  2. increase your ability to provide prevention messages in the clinical setting;
  3. increase your ability to interview patients who are at risk for ATOD problems, including those with diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds, and improve your ability to make referrals;
  4. learn skills to change or influence health systems to incorporate prevention activities; and
  5. support prevention activities in the community and in the profession, including the public policy arena.
