Prevention in Housing Communities Training

CSAP and the Department of Housing and Urban Development have developed a comprehensive community development training program to address the problems of alcohol and other drugs in public housing communities. The training involves key segments of targeted public housing communities in collaborative prevention planning and development. The training focuses on the communities' strengths and builds community capacity to change.

The program includes community assessment; a 5-day Housing Community Institute for teams of housing authority residents, staff, and representatives of other agencies working in the housing community in drug abuse prevention; and followup technical assistance.
