Community Meetings

During the Institute, community meetings are held at the beginning and close of each day (except on Day One morning and Day Five afternoon). These meetings involve all participants from all the teams and all staff, trainers, and guests. Community meetings provide an opportunity to establish a connection among the teams. There is also time to share information and announcements for the whole group.

Each morning community meeting includes an "energizer," which is a brief (often playful) activity that helps to get participant's energy levels engaged.

Afternoon community meetings include a change for participants to give direct verbal feedback to the training staff. Usually an activity called "pluses and wishes" is used. In this activity, participants are invited to brainstorm two lists:

These "pluses and wishes" are discussed in the training staff meeting each evening and the training coordinator tries to respond to any changes or let the participants know how we intend to respond to the feedback in the following morning's opening session.

These afternoon community meetings always end with a closing activity that helps to re-establish the link among the participants and is often reflective in nature.

Although community meetings vary at each of the training events, a general day-by-day agenda follows.
