While the first set of concurrent workshops focused on the internal workings
of the partnership itself, this set focuses on the community environment
in which the partnership is embedded. The purpose of these workshops is
to provide partnerships with tools to use in developing and shaping the
strategies that they will use in involving their communities in AODA prevention
work.
Learning Objectives
Participants will be able to:
Describe for other team members one tool or process for involving their
communities in AODA prevention work.
Identify the form of, and methods associated with, that tool or process.
Assess some of the pros and cons of using each of the tools presented with
their partnership.
Linkages with Preceding and Following Sessions
These workshops take off directly from Unit 4A, Community Mobilization.
They are practical in orientation, covering a spectrum of tools for relating
to the partnerships' external environments. They set the stage for the
teams' reentry planning on Day 5 by giving specific techniques for mobilizing
communities.
