This workshop is an opportunity for the Partnerships to establish or enhance
their relationship with their state prevention system. Each state National
Prevention Network (NPN) representative that has a partnership from their
state at the Institute is invited to meet with their partnership members
during this time frame. They are encouraged to discuss how partnerships
can work with the state prevention system and other prevention organizations
within their communities. In addition, NPN representatives are encouraged
to bring information about services and resources that might be available
for partnerships within the state to the meeting. Finally, partnerships
are encouraged to explore opportunities for supporting their state's prevention
efforts.
Learning Objectives
At the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:
Identify the key prevention leaders and staff within their state prevention
system.
Describe state prevention resources available to partnerships and how to
gain access to resources.
Give concrete steps on how the partnership can support the state prevention
system.
Linkages with Preceding and Following Sessions
This session provides information on how to link state resources to Sessions
1D and 1E on developing a community planning system and can provide input
into the partnership action plan developed in Unit 5B. It also can be useful
for identifying state resources, some of which may be located or have a
regional site in the partnership's community, in relation to the activities
in Unit 4A: Community Mobilization and Unit 4E: Assessing the Community
beyond the Partnership.
