Community Organizing: Community Change

This 2-day workshop for project directors, field staff, and community leaders provides tools, techniques, and tactics for advancing a proactive, community-driven substance abuse prevention campaign. This training reviews the concepts and theories of community organizing and focuses on applying this information to individual communities.

Learning Objectives

The objectives are:
  1. understand the approaches to, and dynamics of, community organizing;

  2. use communication strategies and personal experience to enhance their ability to reach a target audience;

  3. develop strategies to overcome obstacles and enhance opportunities to advance a substance abuse prevention campaign.
